Description of Services:

Chair Massage

Chair massage focuses on the high-tension areas of the neck, back, shoulders, arms and hands. Chair massages are effective at producing therapeutic results in a brief period of time by concentrating the massage on the areas of greatest tension. They can reduce anxiety and stress, relieve tension, strengthen the immune system, and improve circulation. Back to Top.

Connective Tissue Massage

Connective tissue massage (CTM) is a manual reflex therapy that involves manipulating the skin and subcutaneous tissues to treat a variety of conditions. CTM can provide immediate pain relief without using excessive force, and it can also have beneficial effects on tissues that are far away from the area being treated. These effects are thought to be caused by neural reflexes that increase blood flow to the affected area and suppress pain. This can help to normalize the system and balance bodily functions. CTM can also restructure and hydrate dysfunctional connective tissue, which can help to restore mobility and promote collagen remodeling. Couples Massage

A couples massage is a relaxing experience for two people who receive massages simultaneously from different therapists in a private room with separate massage tables. Couples massages can be a way to reconnect with a loved one, enhance the relationship, or simply relax in an intimate setting. During the massage, the body releases oxytocin, also known as the "love hormone" or "happy chemical", which can create a feeling of pleasure, happiness, and affection. This can lead to a deeper connection between partners.

Craniosacral

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on massage technique that involves applying light pressure to the skull, spine, and pelvis to release tension in the body's connective tissue network, called the fascia. The goal of CST is to restore balance to the nervous system and surrounding structures. CST can help with a variety of conditions, both physical and physcological including headeaches, neck pain, TMJ, lower back pain, post-traumatic injuries, sciatica, nerve pain, chronic muscle tension, and side effects of medications or cancer treatment. Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a destination, not a modality. It uses slow, deep strokes and firm finger pressure to target the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues. The goal is to release tension and tightness, and can help with a variety of issues, including strains, sports injuries, scar tissue, chronic pain and stiffness, inflammation, circulation, range of motion, posture, flexibility, sleep issues, and overall well-being. Facial Massage

Facial massage is a relaxing technique that involves kneading and rubbing the face with light pressure to improve its health and appearance. It's similar to a traditional body massage, but the face's sensitivity requires lighter pressure. Facial massage can have many benefits, including improved skin texture and tone by increasing circulation, reducing puffiness, promoting collagen production and lymphatic drainage, relieving stress and anxiety, and reducing headeaches. Geriatric Massage

As one of the most under served populations, geriatric massage is a type of massage therapy that's designed for older adults, usually those aged 65 and older. It uses gentle techniques, such as light touch, rhythmic strokes, and passive stretching, to help improve joint mobility, relieve pain, and promote relaxation. Geriatric massage also takes into account the health conditions and skin sensitivities that are common in older people. Benefits include improved circulation and posture, relief of muscle tension without causing excessive friction on the skin, addressing aging health conditions such as stiffness, limited mobility, and chronic pain, and providing overall comfort and companionship. Lymphatic Massage

Lymphatic massage, also known as manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), gently targets the lymphatic system just under your skin. The lymphatic system acts as the body’s sewage system. Consisting of a network of lymph nodes, ducts and vessels, it carries fluid—which contains proteins, salts, water and white blood cells—throughout the body to the blood. As part of the immune system, lymph nodes help filter out foreign substances (like infections) before that fluid enters the central venous system. MLD is used to move lymph from your tissues to your lymph nodes in order to flush toxins and help with swelling from extra lymph fluid in your tissues. It can help treat lymphedema as well as post-surgical swelling, edema, sinus congestion, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, lipedema and chronic venous insufficiency. Neuro-Muscular Therapy & Trigger Point

Neuromuscular massage therapy (NMT) is a type of medical massage that focuses on treating trigger points in muscles and tendons. It's a specialized soft tissue massage that can help relieve chronic muscle and nervous system disorders and problems. NMT can be used to treat a single painful area of the body, and is often sought out when a specific condition needs immediate professional treatment.

NMT involves applying firm, sustained pressure to painful, taut bands of muscle, also known as trigger points. The goal is to relieve stress and tension in the trigger point, stimulate blood flow, and promote healing. NMT can also help to re-educate contracted muscle tissue, correct myofascial holding patterns, improve blood circulation, aid in rehabilitating injuries, and correct muscle imbalances caused by poor posture or repetitive strain.

NMT can be effective in treating a wide range of conditions, including upper and lower back pain, carpal tunnel, sciatica, cramps, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, knee pain, jaw pain, hip pain, and headaches. Back to Top.

Prenatal Massage

A prenatal massage is a therapeutic massage designed for pregnant women to help relieve pain and stress, and promote relaxation. It's similar to a Swedish massage, but with modifications to ensure the safety of the mother and baby. A certified prenatal massage therapist uses their hands to apply pressure and movement to different parts of the body, focusing on areas most affected by pregnancy, such as the lower back, mid-back, calves, feet, and stomach.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a type of massage that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, or ears. It's also known as zone therapy. Reflexologists use maps to identify these points, which are believed to connect to specific organs and body systems. The theory is that applying pressure to these points can help the body work better and ease stress. Reflexology can involve using different amounts of pressure with the thumb, fingers, or hands, without the use of oil or lotion. The pressure is applied and held until released. If an area is sensitive or tender when stimulated, it may indicate a weakness or imbalance in the corresponding organ. Benefits include pain relief, reduced stress, improved digestion, boosting the immune system, and cleansing the body of toxins, and can be complementary therapy for a variety of health concerns. Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage (often referred to as Swedish massage) is the basis of all circulatory based massage. It is a therapeutic technique that uses gentle, flowing strokes to promote relaxation and reduce muscle tension. It includes techniques like long, rhythmic strokes, small circular movements, and breaking down adhesions. The massage is performed with gentle to medium pressure in the direction of blood flow to the heart, and can also stretch tendons and ligaments. During a massage, the body releases hormones like endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine, which can have a therapeutic effect. Relaxation massages are different from deep tissue massages, which use more forceful techniques to release tension deep in the muscles, and aren't intended to treat sports injuries or other discomfort. Primary benefits of relaxation or full body relaxation massage include calming the nervous system, improving circulation, releasing muscle tension, enhancing range of motion, providing mental and emotional relief, and revitalizing and rejuvenating the body and mind. Sports Massage

Sports massage is a type of massage that uses soft tissue manipulation to help people who regularly participate in physical activity. It can be used before, during, or after training to help athletes with a variety of goals, including injury prevention and recovery, improved performance, faster recovery, and stress relief. Sports massage can be tailored to different sports and injuries, and the techniques used can depend on the athlete's training, condition, and problem areas. Some common techniques include kneading, wringing, rolling, lifting, effleurage, hacking, and trigger pointing. Stretching / Range of Motion

Range of Motion (ROM) Stretch Therapy is a therapeutic hands-on stretching session dedicated to alleviating sore, stiff muscles and increasing overall flexibility and joint range of motion. It can be used as an assessment tool in conjunction with other forms of treatment, and can aid in prevention of the development of adaptive muscle shortening, contractures, and shortening of the capsule, ligaments, and tendons. ROM exercises also provide sensory stimulation and include:

Passive range of motion (PROM): achieved when an outside force (such as a therapist or a CPM machine) exclusively causes movement of a joint and is usually the maximum range of motion that a joint can move.

Active-assisted range of motion (AAROM): when the joint receives partial assistance from an outside force. Usually performed when the client/patient needs assistance with movement from an external force because of weakness, pain, or changes in muscle tone.

Active range of motion (AROM): achieved when opposing muscles contract and relax, resulting in joint movement. For example, the active range of motion to allow the elbow to bend requires the biceps to contract while the triceps muscle relaxes. Back to Top.

Thai Massage

Thai massage is often performed on a mat on the floor with the client fully clothed, though oils and lotions can be used if requested. Thai massage is a full-body massage technique that combines passive stretching, acupressure, yoga, and deep tissue pressure to stimulate organs, improve flexibility, and relieve tension. Your massage therapist may use their hands, elbows, forearms and feet to help reduce tension in your muscles. Benefits include reducing pain, joint, and muscle stiffness. Thai massage can also help relax the body and mind, and lower stress.

Techniques include:

Acupressure: The therapist uses their hands and feet to apply pressure to specific points along the body's energy (sen) lines.

Yoga: The therapist gently moves the client into yoga-like poses to increase the flow of energy along the sen lines.

Deep tissue pressure: The therapist uses deep tissue pressure and stretching movements to release tension in muscles and joints.

Zen Shiatsu

Zen Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork that uses acupressure to stimulate energy channels in the body. It's based on the same concepts as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture, but without the needles. During a Zen Shiatsu session, the therapist applies pressure to specific points along meridians, or energy channels, using their thumbs, fingers, palms, elbows, feet, and knees. The focus is on the meridian lines as a whole, rather than on specific points. Zen Shiatsu can be performed in many positions, including supine, side, prone, and sitting. Clients should wear loose-fitting clothing that allows for range of motion, such as yoga pants, tank tops, or t-shirts. Zen Shiatsu can help with a variety of issues including chronic pain, constipation, migraines, poor flexibility, relaxation, stress reduction, low back pain, nervous system disorders, mental and physical fatigue, and insomnia. Back to Top.
